The BV514 is a PIC32 microcontroller with a 2.8” full colour touch screen attached. It has an optional Bluetooth module and so can be used for remote input / output. It is based on a modular design with I2C or serial being the main methods of communication to other devices although it also has several I/O available. The primary intension is for it to be a low cost control module and to this end the four connectors are spaced on a 0.1” grid to enable other modules to be plugged in.
This is a dual purpose device: it can be used as a display and input for another microcontroller using the BV4629 firmware or it can be a stand alone microcontroller using the BV514 firmware. It can of course also be programmed in C. By default the device comes with BASIC installed. There is a row of connectors at either side of the device making it ideal for plugging into other modules.
The Bluetooth option can be switched in or out and substitutes for the USB. The Bluetooth module can also be configured via the USB to change its ID, Baud rate and the like.
