BV4626 event based response

I have a BV4626 that I used to develop a garage door opener. The relays open and close the doors and the digital inputs determine the status of the door. To be able to indicate if someone manually opened or closed the door, I constantly check for the status of the digital pins and trigger an event if the status changes. It would be great if the board had an option to make a request for the digital pins status and not receive a response until one of the pins actually changes. This way I can stop the constant polling on the computer and offload that work to the BV4626. This would be much more efficient.

You can use the KEY output which changes when a key is pressed or the INT output which changes when there is a key on the buffer.
