Is there a way to load and call a function written in C or ASM with MPLAB-X from mBASIC?

No: This, for a short time was a feature of the first BASIC but was difficult to implement as it could not be ascertained for certain that all of the registers and RAM that BASIC used could be saved. The mB is much faster (100+ times) and it accesses the registers more directly so its not needed as much.
There are some detailed tutorials of how to do ADC, SPI, I2C etc. using registers for the MX1 family that will be released very shortly (end of July 2012 latest).
